PTFA
St Peter’s Parents, Teachers and Friends Association
Like you, we want our children to make joyful memories during their school years. Events such as school discos, Easter egg hunts, Father Christmas visits, purchasing gifts for Mother’s and Father’s Day and having fun at our Summer & Christmas Fetes wouldn’t happen without parental support, without YOU. St Peter’s may be a small school but it has big plans and without everything that goes on in the background, the securing of corporate fundraising and PTFA fundraising etc., the school wouldn’t be as wonderful as it is today.
The PTFA has been an integral part of the school community for a number of years. It has raised thousands of pounds which have been spent on equipment and resources to enhance the children’s educational experience and the school’s facilities.
The PTFA is a voluntary group of parents and is about much more than simply fundraising. We exist to provide closer links between home and school and to bring staff and parents together socially, working towards a common goal. All money raised goes to the school to help provide resources and equipment which will enhance children’s experiences at St Peter’s
All parents and members of the school community are encouraged to get involved, even if you only have a small amount of time available.
Like most PTFAs, the majority of funds are raised through events. There is always something going on, such as discos, raffles and family fun events. Donations from parents are extremely important, you can donate time, money, items for sale, raffle prizes or offers of services and skills.
The money raised is usually spent fairly quickly although, from time to time, funds are put towards larger projects. However, whilst saving for these, smaller items are still funded thanks to the generous and continued support of our parents.
How you can get involved
There are lots of ways you can help and support your child through the PTFA. Offering to help at or before events, or at other times of the year, is so valuable. It doesn’t matter if you can’t help on a regular basis, or even if you can’t come into school. There are always jobs that can be done from home if you have half an hour to spare e.g. wrapping gifts, preparing raffle tickets. We really couldn’t achieve what we do without the behind the scenes help that we receive.
The PTFA thrives on helpers. The more you volunteer, the more the children will benefit. If you would like to lend us a hand and help out with fundraising, even if it’s just bagging up some sweets for the disco’s or doing a cash and carry run then please fill in the PTFA ‘Give an Hour’ slips which are available from the school office. We really do appreciate any help you can offer us.
